Austin, Texas We pride ourselves on being far from ordinary. In fact, we celebrate being “weird”. Austin is a hot spot for creativity and embraces its community of musicians, athletes, artists, entrepreneurs and progressive thinkers. Accessible by direct flights from all major cities in the country (including numerous flights with low cost airlines), Austin offers the best of Texan hospitality. From the famous 6th street to the trail on Town Lake, from the natural pool of Barton Springs to the gay bars, most venues and attractions in Austin are walking distance away and most visitors won’t feel the need to even rent a car for the weekend. Finally, as you probably already know, the vibrant, diverse, fun (and some people say good-looking!) Austin LGBT community offers more venues and events than most major cities in the country. Austin Front Runners Austin is also an awesome town for runners: Town Lake is the heart of the city and offers a beautiful trail with loops from 3 to 10 miles. In addition to the annual marathon and two triathlons right in the downtown area, there is a running event almost every weekend in Austin and sometimes even more! Reunited in 2010, the two former Front Runners chapters are now a very active running club with over 130 active members (including a very nice proportion of ladies) and usually 35 to 50 runners at each of the four weekly runs (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays). The club is also a very active social group with monthly newsletters, happy hours, focus races and other numerous social events. The now famous BYOL (Bring Your Own Lesbian) monthly run has quickly become a major social event for lesbians in Austin. In June 2010, the club organized the first Pride Run in Austin. The event received a fantastic support from the community and city officials and attracted more than 800 registrants. The 2011 AGM For the first time, Austin Front Runners invites all Front Runners (delegates and members) worldwide to the weekend. The AGM is scheduled on September, 24th and 25th. It coincides with a very popular running event in Austin organized by the local based company Silicon Labs: it is a marathon-relay with five legs from 5 to 12K. Participants will team up in the race, which will give them the opportunity to better know each other, and offer an awesome LGBT presence during the event. We actually expect to be the largest group represented in the race. AGENDA:
