HCRA Training Runs


Are you registered or thinking about running the trail run in the 2012 Hill Country Ride and Run for AIDS? Austin Front Runners invites you to join us for free weekly training runs!

Introducing Austin Front Runners

  •  We are a gay and lesbian running club
  •  We welcome all members of the community (including our straight friends and allies)
  •  We cater to all fitness levels

Beginners Welcome!

Will our training runs be right for you? Our runners include:

  • Slow and Steady. Many of our members are beginners, first-time runners or people who walk part of the course.
  • Recreational and Goal Oriented. We help support your running goals, whether it’s your first 5K or your first half marathon.
  • Fast and Furious. Our club also includes elite athletes who may inspire you to reach the next level of your performance!

Training Schedule and Run Times

  • Tuesday. Choice of track workout or trail run at 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday. Trail only runs at 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday. Trail run begins at 10 a.m.

Training Distances

  • For trail runs, you can choose a distance of 3-7 miles. Totally fine to walk any portion of our training runs. Members frequently stop for water.
  • Track workouts vary in distances, but are typically shorter distances at faster paces to build speed and cardio capacity.

Getting Started

The best way to get to know us is to join us for a run! We often go out to eat after our Tuesday and Saturday runs. Restaurant location will be announced at the beginning of each run.
