We all run for different reasons. Many of us may not have come from a running background and are just starting out and trying this "running" thing. Others have been running for years and appreciate the benefits that this form of exercise brings. Regardless of your running experience, Front Runners can offer you the opportunity to improve your running skills.

Why improve your running skills, you may ask? That is a great question. I started running in my early thirties without the athletic experience and knowledge that comes with being coached or trained. As my enjoyment of running increased, I was prone to more injuries, felt tired and ragged and was starting to think of running more as a nuisance rather than the enjoyable experience it used to be. Fortunately for me, I recognized the value of running as part of my lifestyle. So I decided to get some training in the sport of running.

I learned that running is a technical oriented sport. It is more than placing one foot in front of the other. That breathing and body posture are core to the sport. I learned that what I ate and how
long I slept were as important to running as a pair of good running shoes. Most importantly, training and coaching taught me to appreciate the sport, enrich my running experience and respect my body.

The club offers its members a variety of different running experiences that can assist you in reaching your running goals. On Tuesdays‘ of every week, for example, the club sponsors a coached track workout. The workouts are tailored to consider individual goals and limitations. They are meant to improve your running skills and to assist you in reaching your running goals. Mainly, the track workouts focus on running form, stamina, and endurance. In addition to the track work, additional exercises are incorporated into the track workout to emphasize core or leg muscle conditioning. The track workouts are held at Austin High School and depart "the circle" right after the announcements.

Track workouts are just one way to experience running in a whole different perspective. Over the course of the coming months I‘ll be introducing different running strategies and techniques that will enable you to reach your running goals.
